So.. we went to Burt's pumkin patch in the North GA mountains. It was cold. But the hayride and hot cider made it a hit. This next picture is Olivia with her 3 girl cousins...
Good times were had with the same crew as last year. What is it about dressing up babies that we adults get such a kick out of? Jess: "Look at my precious little bug!" Livvy," Well, mom this is a little different than my regular clothes, but since you are so amused, I'd be glad to oblige."
And you guys we were done w/ the blog thing? We have been slackers lately. Here are a few pictures from our time w/ the Filkins in Boulder a couple of weeks ago. We were finally able to "get the girls together" (we loved saying that) and got to meet sweet Lucy for the first time. We took the girls to the zoo (note the gorilla we named Jack Black), cooked up some fine meals, and hung around. Easy, fun, & refreshing to be with great friends.
She loved it. A little intimated by the stinky goat, she was reluctant to pet it. After all, he looked a little odder than the golden retriever she is used to. We also enjoyed seeing Mei Lan- the celebrated panda who just turned one and is getting ready to go back to China. When we asked William, Livvy's 2 1/2 year old pal, what the Panda likes to chew, he confidantly answered, "Bamboo!" (Thanks to his frequent reading of "Peekaboo Zoo")
We posted! Summer has been great. Here we are with our college family that contines to grow. We met in Memphis for a bluff-city shindig. Here is Olivia with her boy friend, Tucker.
There were 16 of us in all at Brooks Lake Lodge in WY. Olivia learned "Where's the moose?" and how to point to both the actual and stuffed versions. Unfortunately, since arriving home, she has not had much practice. See the look on Dad's face? Sheer joy. Ben thought he was in heaven: baby on back and fishing pole in hand after having a cup of joe on the porch.
We haven't added in a while, since we forgot the camera at the beach a couple of weeks ago. Woops. A little outdated, we still had to add these of our little fashion munchkin. We think she got the idea from flipping through that Us magazine lying around at the beach.... Woops again.
Olivia's buddy Eva turned one today. As she daintily ate small bites off her cupcake, Olivia proceeded to shove down large fistfuls of sugary goodness. You can see from the first photo she was trying to distract mom by posing with, what could be interpreted from a distance. as a nutritional orange.
O. has found the way to Tap's heart. Tap no longer a jealous rival for parental attention, they seem to have figured out a way to make this "arrangement" work for every party involved. How to extinguish this behavior? Who knows. We're open to suggestion from all you veteran, dog-loving parents out there, but first, we realize we must stop laughing.
This kiddo loves the pool. And she loves to grin. You wouldn't believe the lengths we will go to get her to laugh or smile. You get one and you've just have got to have more. In public, dignity and social restraint fly out the window.
Welcome to the world, sweet Miller Grace Thompson. We were so excited to get to visit the Thompson family on her first night home from the hospital. Baby girls rock.
What a nostolgic trip to one of our favorite college sandwich shops. Finos from the Hill. Best turkey on baguette with balsamic that you've ever tasted. To bring our daughter back after we'd had college dates there made for a delightful lunch.
To celebrate Ava's second birthday, Olivia joined her for a two-bite cupcake. I must admit, a first time mom, I was a little tense about the kid having her first bites of decadent, vanilla frosting cupcake. Would she ever eat broccoli again? She did for supper. But, there is no going back. You kind of got the feeling that she was thinking, "Did you guys know there was food like this in the world? Then what's up with the rice and lentils?"
